I got an email from my oncologist confirming the results of the bloodwork My CA125 levels were 4500, they are supposed to be under 30. This confirmed the diagnosis of ovarian cancer, Stage IIIC.
It sounds so amazing, like I’ve got this grand stage to be on. IIIC. Better than IIIB. But joking aside, it means I have a big tumor that is messing with an organ. There’s a more technical description, but that is good enough for this post.
NOTE: don’t look at statistics when facing cancer. They suck.
Later that day I got a phone call from the hospital. They had received an order for a port placement, and they had a cancellation for Friday morning. I was heading to the hospital in the morning for outpatient surgery to have a port installed in my chest. Things just got real.
